Happy Halloween!!

It is the night before Halloween and I decided to take the night off from TpT and make something cute for Halloween!  Of course Pinterest is a guilty pleasure that usually gets me into big messes.   This was one of the latest finds...Frankenstein Treats!  My daughter's daycare doesn't allow homemade treats...bummer, so I made these for my son's class.

My children kept asking to try one, but since these treats are so large, I split one in half and let them have one before bedtime. I may pay for giving them sugar before bed...but it is Halloween :)

Monday Freebies!

It is hard to believe that this week is Halloween!  How did that sneak up on us?  I can't wait for Wednesday...the kids are always so excited for anything that has to do with Halloween.  I have some fun things planned this week for them that go along with all the great Halloween books out there.  Now that I think of it, maybe I am more excited than the kids!  Don't forget to check out Stephanie's Witches' Brew unit over at TpT.  I can't wait to see it up in our hallway at school.  I am all ready to go with my Spooktacular Literacy Station Pack which is my favorite product right now.  I just love the clipart.

Shake, Rattle, and Roll!!

We celebrated the 50th day of school this week!  I can not believe it is already the 50th day.  In this post, we have included some activities our K-2 students did during the week.  I created this emergent reader for my kindergarten students to work on one-to-one correspondence and sight words.  Click here or the pictures below to link to the freebie on Teachers Pay Teachers.

My students enjoyed reading this emergent reader.  The children also had to use the predictable chart to write sight words.  Students had to use the sight word cards to write "I can see a" in the blanks.

I just had to share my weekly newsletter too.  I always send home a weekly newsletter on Monday of each week.  Here is the newsletter I sent home for this week.  I thought it turned out real cute with the 50's theme.  I use the same template, but change the clipart and information in the newsletter weekly.

Stephany made "I have, Who has" game for telling time to the hour and half hour.  It is available for free in her TpT store.  Click here or the picture below to link directly to her store.

Then, on Thursday, we had our Sock Hop!!  We had several dozen record-shaped cookies and bubble gum for the event.  50's Music was blared into the street for a street dance.  The students and teachers dressed in 50's style clothes.  Here are a few pictures of the event.  I think this one may be my favorite.  I think this is just priceless!  How precious...

The first picture below is of my students cutting out pictures for our Venn Diagram.  We sorted pictures "then" and "now".  The second picture is too cute.  These boys are dancing at our sock hop!!  I love how both boys are pretending to play the guitar!

No, it's not James Dean.  But, look at Chad!  He looks gorgeous!  I love how the sun was in his eyes and he's squinting.  He is a first grader in Stephany's classroom.  The other picture is of kindergarten teachers, Heather and Kiley.  They have PBIS eagle features around their necks.  We pass these out when we see positive behavior from any student in our school.

The cookies turned out so cute... and tasted just as good!  (Don't tell, but I ate two.)  The kids had black icing everywhere!  The nurse and I both dressed as a "soda jerk".  It was a super easy costume.

Boo!! (In a Good Way!)

Who thinks planning for a sub is more work than it's worth?  Wow, I spent several hours today preparing to be gone Monday.   Also, I am super excited to use my new Halloween product "Spooktacular Literacy Station and Center Activities" in my classroom this week and next.  It has tons of great Halloween themed station/center ideas.  I just love Maree Truelove's graphics and backgrounds!

Also, Second Grade Pad is hosting a "You've Been Boo'd" linky party.

You've probably all played the popular game BOO at school where you leave a ghost on someone's desk or mailbox along with a treat.  Let's do the same by sharing some love from our stores...

FREEBIE and a Helpful 'How to'

I have been working on math facts with a group of fourth graders.  Of course instead of going out and buying flash cards....I had to make them!  After making the multiplication cards, I decided to make addition and subtraction as well.  Both of these sets are on my TpT store for FREE!!!
